Automata have a rich history of fine craft and children’s toys. They are often surreal and uncanny in their attempt to imitate life, and I wanted to tap into that strange feeling.

This sushi chef repeatedly chops the head off of a fish that is identical in size, shape, and color to himself. A strange act of once-removed self-decapitation.
