Lisa Koyama Max
Lisa Max is a multimedia artist based in New York. She graduated with a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studied animation, ceramics, woodworking, and metalworking. Following that, she worked as an Intern and then a Winter Assistant at Anderson Ranch Art Center. There, she learned how to teach, maintain a shop, and learned new skills in digital fabrication.
She enjoys making kinetic objects, lighting, and sculptural instruments that share an element of unexpected excitement and awe. Her artwork draws heavy inspiration from her Japanese heritage and often references memories from her childhood living in Japan.
